What Changed — Effective August 16, 2026
Here's what changed and why.
- 1.This policy now covers shipping, not just returns. We've merged shipping information into this policy, since both are about how your order gets to you and what happens if something's wrong with it.
- 2.New: shipping is free. Shipping doesn't cost you anything. Merchants cover the cost of shipping, not you.
- 3.New: shipping times are set by the merchant. Each merchant sets their own shipping time. We work to get you the lowest shipping time possible, but the estimate you see on a listing comes from the merchant.
- 4."Seller" is now "merchant." Sellers register and manage their listings on a separate merchant platform now, so this policy refers to them as merchants throughout, to match our other buyer-facing documents.
- 5.Removed the "For Sellers" section. That section covered how sellers set up return policies in their dashboard — that's now merchant-platform territory, not something buyers need in this policy.
- 6.Removed the "prioritize verified merchants" recommendation. Every merchant on Commversar is now verified in person before they can list anything, so there's no longer a distinction between verified and unverified merchants to prioritize.
- 7.Removed the "Typically Accepted / Typically Not Accepted" return guidelines. Return terms are set entirely by each merchant and shown on their listing, so a platform-wide "typical" standard implied a baseline that doesn't really exist. You now check the merchant's actual stated policy instead of a general guideline.
- 8.Consolidated the proof requirements into one place. The "When We Can Intervene" summary used to repeat the same proof requirements listed in the dedicated intervention section. It now just points to that section instead of restating the list.
- 9.Rewritten in direct, second-person language. Sections that used to talk about "buyers" in the third person now speak to you directly.
- 10.Contact Us is no longer a numbered section. It's now a closing line rather than its own clause, matching the structure of our Terms of Use.
- 11.New: links out to Buyer Protection and Refunds. Payments, escrow, cancellation, and refund terms now live on two new dedicated pages — Buyer Protection Policy and Refunds Policy — since those are about money, not shipping or the return process itself. This page notes upfront that its protections only apply to in-platform payments, and points to Buyer Protection for what that means.
- 12.TL;DR moved to the top. It's the first thing on the page now instead of the last, so it's visible without scrolling.
- 13.Reordered sections around the buyer's actual journey. "Before You Buy" now comes right after "Our Role," ahead of Shipping and the return process, since checking a listing's return policy happens before you buy — not after. The first step of "How Returns Work" now points to that section instead of repeating the same guidance.
- 14.Updated dates. Effective Date and Last Updated are now August 16, 2026.
